The partial collapse of a wall at a construction site of a subway entrance in Manhattan sent a construction worker to the hospital with serious injuries. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Plaza Construction, the company managing the construction of the subway entrance nearby a building located on 42nd Street and Eight Avenue, released a statement on Thursday that said, “We are cooperating fully with the appropriate city agencies to ensure safety measures at the work site.”

Three other workers sustained minor injuries in the 4:17 a.m. accident, according to fire officials.

Initially, it was reported that the worker was injured when concrete fell on the site from the adjoining building. But, according to a spokeswoman for Plaza Construction, the accident occurred about 10 feet underground. #
