A construction worker was hospitalized Friday after suffering an injury at a New York Avenue construction site.

The worker, 47, who has not been identified, was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

“A piece of construction material fell from a flatbed truck and caused an “open crushing wound” to the man’s right forearm, according to John Magri, Framingham Assistant Fire Chief.

While there was no available information as to the worker’s employer late Friday, Magri said the truck was owned by Baron Industries. The company was unavailable for comment.

Representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) also appeared at the scene to investigate the accident. At this time OSHA has not commented.

The scene of the accident, 74 New York Ave., was purchased by the Cambridge-based Genzyme Corporation for $38.7 million in July 2008, according to the Middlesex Registry of Deeds. A spokesman for Genzyme could not be reached for comment.
