A worker was killed in a construction accident when he fell 48 stories to his death at a Manhattan construction site on Thursday morning, according to fire officials.

The worker – who was part of a crew that was dismantling a crane – allegedly stumbled from a walkway between the building and the crane when he fell, according to officials at the scene of the accident.

He landed in a construction lot surrounded by a fence. His body was taken and placed inside an ambulance.

The construction site – a glass-walled skyscraper – is located between 41^st and 42^nd Street, and 10^th and 11^th avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The crane can be seen from the 11^th Avenue side.

The victim’s name has not yet been released by officials pending an investigation and family notification.
