Lung illness among WTC firefighters on the rise

Science Daily reported that sarciodosis of the lung, a serious inflammatory lung illness, is increasing among those New York City firefighters present during and after the World Trade Center collapse on September 11, 2001.

Research completed since 9/11 by New York University, the NYC Department of Health Services, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine show at least 26 firefighters who suffer from sarciodosis. Each of the firefighters underwent chest CT scans, pulmonary funciton testing and toher tests. Those who led the research team say that these World Trade Center illness results are significant, according the the report.
