A construction worker on the site of the MGM-Mirage's City Center in Las Vegas was killed while working in an elevator shaft. The construction accident happened on Thursday around 6 o'clock. The man died on the scene.

Construction came to a stop on the main hotel and casino portion of the CityCenter project after a fatal accident left many wondering what went wrong.

One of their own was killed while greasing a manlift elevator shaft on the tower. The counterweight system came down on top of him.

Scott Allison, with CCFD, said, "To literally lift a cage full of construction workers into the air, you can imagine that counterweight system is very, very heavy and moves at a very good pace when it is moving."

Two workers were killed on the same job site in February. Las Vegas also had another fatal construction accident last week.
