City acknowledges 9/11 toxic dust death

A woman who was caught in a dust cloud on 9/11 near the World Trade Center died of lung disease five months later, and the city of New York now acknowledges her as a 9/11 victim.

The WNYC Newsroom reports that the city Medical Examiner reversed a previous opinion that dust exposure did not cause deaths in those present on 9/11. Now the ME is saying that dust exposure contributed to this vicitm's death and may also have contributed the 9/11 deaths of others present that fateful day.

The report says:

The ME's revised ruling acknowledges for the first time that 9/11 dust and debris contributed to a victim's death.
