In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), 25,000 SpongeBob SquarePants journals and address books, imported by Martin Designs Inc., are being recalled because the paint on the spiral binding may contain excessive amounts of lead.

If ingested by small children, lead can have serious health effects.

Included in the recall are journals and address books with the SpongeBob SquarePants character displayed on the front cover and black spiral binding.

UPC Code for the SpongeBob Journal: 80773002260

UPC Code for the SpongeBob Address Book: 80773007505

The UPC number can be located on the back cover.

Consumers should take the recalled books away from children and contact Martin Designs for a full refund.

Consumer Contact: For additional information, contact Martin Designs Inc. toll-free at (866) 898-0261 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's Web site at www.martindesigns-ltd.com.
