An elderly man, 78, lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a building hosting a Hanukkah party for New York families on Thursday, injuring 14 people, according to police.

The man struck a parked car before plowed through a plate glass window of the building where Chabad of the Five Towns, an Orthodox Jewish community organization, was hosting its annual Chanukah Wonderland festival in the town of Woodmere, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) southeast of New York city.

About 150 people were in the building at the time of the crash, 14 have reportedly been injured, 4 of which are in serious condition, said Nassau County policy officer Mary Verna.

Those injured, ranging in age from 18 months to 40-years-old, mostly suffered from blunt force trauma and were transported to area hospitals she said.

Charges will not be filed against the driver.

"There's no criminality, it was just an accident," said Nassau County Police Officer Joan Eames, adding that the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
